How the Nisab Value is Calculated

The Nisab value is calculated by evaluating the worth of 85 grams of gold and 595 grams of silver. In line with the Sunnah, the higher value between the two metals is selected as the Nisab threshold. This approach is based on the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) specifying minimum Zakat-eligible amounts: "There is no Zakat on less than five Uqiyah (595g) of silver" (Sahih Bukhari, Book 24, Hadith 487) and "There is no Zakat on less than twenty Dinars (85g of gold)" (Sunan Abu Dawood, Book 9, Hadith 1565).
