About & Methodology

Nissab-Zakat.com provides a free, transparent reference for today’s nisab threshold and Zakat calculations in multiple currencies.

How the nisab is calculated

We calculate the market value of both traditional thresholds and display the higher value as a cautious nisab threshold. Prices and exchange rates are refreshed regularly, so displayed amounts can change with the markets.

  • Gold Standard: Gold standard: the current market value of 85 grams of gold.
  • Silver Standard: Silver standard: the current market value of 595 grams of silver.

Islamic references

The thresholds are based on narrations concerning five awaq of silver and twenty dinars of gold. The linked hadith records allow readers to review the source texts.

Market data sources

Gold and silver prices come from GoldAPI. Currency conversion rates come from ExchangeRate-API. Cached data reduces service interruptions and is updated by scheduled jobs.
